i've been baking and cooking a lot since i returned home. mostly been preparing to make a cake for one of my closest friends 21st birthday which is tomorrow, photos to come soon. but in the mean time..

roast vege pizza on a mini wholemeal pita bread, add some roast pumpkin and voila, delish.

baked a batch of my dads incredible biscotti for my friends birthday to go with the creme brulee(!) flavoured tea and the cookbook i wrote for her.

look at all those cranberries and pistachios. om nom nom nom.

i've been on holidays and let me tell you, it feels wonderful! after spending a year working 6 days a week it's the nicest/strangest feeling to have just over 2 weeks off work. i spent time with family who came to stay for a few days over christmas, almost a week at the beach and the past few days i've just been chilling at home. i was hating it at first, it felt like a waste of a holiday to not be anywhere exciting but it's sort of nice to settle in and clean and get organised before it's back to business.

here's a few snaps..

the beeeautiful orakawa bay, 40 minute walk over the hill from waihi, worth every step.
1kg of cherries for $9.99! i love out of town/side of the road fruit stalls!
amazing cafe in waihi called the secret garden, we spent time here everyday.
bestfriend and her boyfriend on new years day, classic kiwi bach.
secret garden with luke, happy times.
would have been ultimate shot...

another 20 minute walk from orakawa bay is a waterfall, so nice.

i have been listening to avalanche city pretty much non-stop now for about 3 or 4 weeks. it is lovely folky music, written and played by a guy who comes from my country by the name of dave baxter. if you have a wee visit to the link below you can download the album for free (legally) it is wonderful, do it, do it!

so i took part in this little thing called the 'simply delightful package swap' hosted by the AMAZING (i don't often use capitals) tillie from she waits for whispers

and my package arrived about two weeks ago now but fiiiinally i had a moment to take a few photos tonight to show you how spoiled i was. my swap partner was the lovely tillie herself and my goodness she made my day, week, month, all of it, and it put everyone i showed (i showed a LOT of people) in a good mood too, so...

how nice is her wiriting!? even the envelope was cute.

and inside, all wrapped up in brown paper, fave.

there was a third bow, it was in my hair when i was taking photos, its so so cute.

so incredible! hand made bow hairclips, earrings made by tillie, delish lip balm, a pretty nail file, chocolate, yummy tea, pin up post cards and cards also designed by tillie, the woman is a genius, myyyy goodness! and how amazing is the paper that letter is on!? each piece of paper had a different camera, safe to say my mind was blown. thank you thank you thank you, you lovely lady! eeeep, so much loveliness.

i wish i was daring enough to buy those really high, beautiful heels and to wear the red lipstick my mama gave me.

i have however, had the most beautiful evening, i stayed at home alone for the first time in two weeks, cleaned, ran and did washing. and then sat down with my new cardi on, the heater, lit tea candles and incense, switched on my fairy lights and listened to beautiful music... i have discovered that i am so event minded, but if i make the small things and my relaxing into mini events, i'm way more stoked on alone time. best discovery of the year probably.

edit: purchased the shoes, yeeeee.

i would like to paint my nails.

(my camera broke between coffee club half an hour before the concert, and stepping inside the vector arena, but i did get a t-shirt despite my 'no more band shirt' pact i made with myself after counting more then 25 band shirts in my draw that haven't been worn for either years or ever, eeeeeek, but it's JOHN. completely different story)

whenever i was visiting sydney and taking trains i'd get a free newspaper and they had these cute little notes where people would try and get the attention of someone they'd seen or had an encounter with, i always thought they were so cute, so i cut them out and saved them and have them in a suitcase in my room. i found these one day, missed connections, apparently done in lots of places, just not nz.. sigh.

today it is thanksgiving in america (i think) and although we don't really celebrate it in new zealand, i wanted to say a few things i'm thankful for.
the stars- oh what a love. my parents, my sisters, my nieces. my friends- so solid. soaking in gorgeous summer mornings, the ability to not do anything much but sit and be, just be. beautiful music to fill my days with. faith, hope and love. modern technology (shallow? haha) tears and laughter. joy and pain- feeling all that is real. smiling really big genuine smiles, for no other reason then life.

i will write a book like this for myself one day.

good things: dessert picnic on top of a hill, freezing on said hill and coming home for a hot lemon, honey and ginger, printing tonnes of new photos for my walls, new pajama pants, pretty charity bags they come in. fairy lights, assassin, all of battle studies, down on love. first swim of summer, baby spinach hummus. staying up way too late with the greatest friends. ever.

kia ora, i'm chrissy. i'm 18. i live in a small country called new zealand, it's possibly the most beautiful place on earth and it is home. i am a daughter, sister, aunty, cousin and friend. i love to love, and i will love you, i can pretty much guarantee that. i am loyal to the point of being unable to let go and move on, good and bad. everyday i dream of travelling the world and owning my own cafe , it will be filled with beautiful things including my friends. i am obsessed with op shops and can't resist a single pretty scarf or brown leather handbag. there are so many things i want to learn, like how to skateboard/surf/ski, speak another language (maori) play an instrument- any is fine and sew well to name a few. today i wish the most that i could complete something like taking a photo a day for a year. it's been done many times before, not at all original, but i think i might just do it.
